![]() The account must be in good standing, meaning no past due balance at the time of unlock request, if the account is cancelled then the balance must be zero. The IMEI must not be reported lost, or stolen. The device must be paid off and the installment plan must be verified to be closed. Has not been more than 2 unlock requests on that mobile number within a year. Used consecutively with the same number and sim for 40 days. Other carriers like AT&T don’t offer Retail Support for device unlocking, they’d tell ya “it’s done online on this website. If there truly is some one off issue, it would be customer care that would support that. If it doesn’t unlock, it’s usually because there is some type of condition that hasn’t been met. It happens automatically, or via an app when specific conditions are met. Unfortunately it’s not within a retail stores scope to unlock devices. The unlock request can made made through cellular or wifi, as shown here: Some have said “put in a T-Mobile SIM card” but that’s not necessary. Thanks for those who offered advice! Talking with the customer service since then hasn't helped either, since they keep saying it's unlocked when it really isn't (the 'unlock device' app they have is broken too). Once my number was ported (prior to removing the SIM), it seems like T-Mobile just didn't acknowledge the existence of the phone anymore even though they said it was unlocked after I paid the balance I owed on it.
